Leave a lasting memory with SCC’s Park Furniture Dedication Program. Individuals and organizations are able to commemorate a person, place or event, while at the same time enhancing the Shubenacadie Canal Waterway. The natural beauty of the canal waterway, combined with the craftsmanship, ingenuity, scale of its engineering,  architectural structures and cultural importance to this region, makes it the perfect place to reflect upon, celebrate, and memorialize a person, place or event.

New Bench Dedication

We are pleased to be using Lake City Plastic, Hi-Back Bench, for our program. Check out the brochure for details on this unique product. A 3''x6'' stainless steel plaque containing your custom dedication message will be attached to the bench.

Your $5000 donation includes the cost of the bench, custom plaque, installation, maintenance (10 year term) and administration costs.

What happens after the 10-year term?

After 10 years, the donor will be emailed and given the option to reinvest in the program for another 10 year period or to receive the plaque and allow the bench to be offered to other donors. Each donor is responsible to update their contact information such as phone number, email address and mailing address during this time.

Furniture Dedication Policy

This donation is considered a non-refundable donation to Shubenacadie Canal Commission and a tax receipt will be issued for the full amount, $5000. For renewal donations, a tax receipt will be issued for the renewal amount $2500.

Orders must be paid in full prior to Shubenacadie Canal Commission confirming and commencing work.

More than one person can donate to a park furniture dedication but only one individual tax receipt will be issued to the donor whose name appears on the application form.

From the time of the receipt of the donation in full, it will take approximately 10 to 12 weeks to complete the installation of all park furniture. Installation occurs between the months of May and October but applications can be submitted year-round.

Please note: the SCC can’t guarantee the installation date. We will notify you once the installation is completed.

Note that your sponsorship of park furniture does not constitute ownership or give you priority use for the donated item.
