Have a wild encounter

Just moments from Metro Dartmouth and Halifax, experience the peace, natural beauty and ruggedness of the Shubenacadie Canal Waterway.

Explore the Park’s scenic trails along the calm waters of the Canal Waterway where you will find majestic, old growth hemlock trees, including the oldest tree in the park, which is estimated to be 178 years old! In the Park you may encounter wild residents, including ducks, birds, squirrels, deer, turtles, and even a beaver or two! Further up the Canal Waterway, and into the wilder areas towards the Bay of Fundy, visitors can enjoy the spectacular sight of majestic bald eagles soaring above the river as they hunt for fish and small land prey on its grassy banks.
