The mission of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission is to preserve the historic features of the Shubenacadie Canal and to provide access to the waterway for the education and the enjoyment of the public.
Our historic sites, parks and trails are a great place to enjoy the outdoors. By following the guidelines below you will allow SCC sites to continue to be Yours To Explore!
Take only photographs and leave only footprints.
Please help protect our wildlife: Do not feed animals.
Pets are welcome, on-leash! Don’t forget t0 pick up after your pet.
No fires and no smoking permitted at park sites! BBQs are ok. Click for information.
Be part of the solution, not the pollution. No cans? Bring it home!
Cyclists: Cyclists using pedestrian trails are asked to travel at a safe speed, be courteous to other trail users, and yield to pedestrians. Please use extra caution around dogs, children, and in busy areas.
E-Bike Use: E-bikes are permitted, provided they meet the guidelines outlined in By-Law P-600. Users must also follow all trail rules and obey posted speed limits and signage.
E-Scooter Use: E-scooters are not permitted on park trails. Due to high pedestrian and dog traffic, many trails—particularly within the inner trail system—are not wide enough to safely accommodate e-scooters. For more information, please visit Halifax’s E-Scooter and Micromobility page.
