A view from inside

Obvious finishes are happening to the outside of the Flume House (as seen in the first photo). But hidden inside will be the details of how the working Flume House would looked when in operation. This is the only known example of an early 19th century Flume House that shows the interior as it would have been. It is also important to note that the view of the Flume House (first photo) is looking North.

The Shubenacadie Waterway Marine Railway was selected as one of the top 5 entries for the Innovation Award at the World Canal Conference that took place on September 21 in Inverness, Scotland. This award celebrates canal-based projects around the world that are technologically ground-breaking in their field. Keith Manchester can be seen here (third from left in the back row) representing Shubenacadie Canal Commission as a finalist.
