Throughout Shubie Park there are interpretive panels that give us a glimpse back in time. The trail bank found today in the park is a testament to the exemplary work of the Irish and Scottish canal workers.

Three steamers were build to work on the Shubenacadie Canal. Although there is no surviving image or drawing of the Avery, the Mayflower or the Lockport, we can imagine them through descriptions left by people during the working years of the canal.
